Ideas Agora

Today we ask you to jam in a different way: you can open yourself a brand new discussion to share your ideas or join already open discussions below.

The focus:

We, the people of culture, let our fragmentation reduce our impact on society.
What is the first thing we need to do to reverse this trend? To become a "we"?

This is not a discussion thread per se, more of a space where I would like to ask everyone to share your initiatives' websites, causes you fight for, things relevant to the topics discussed here throughout the past two days.

It is a jungle of text to read through and I believe our causes deserve their own space, their own separate sheet.

Ideally, this could be used to create a webpage or online database gathering like-minded people and their activities.

What do you think? Sounds feasible? Share?

  • ALE (ArtLobbyEurope) is a loose association of artists fighting for their rights. Mainly 1. improving budget conditions for art and culture and 2. Free art fora for all artists with understandable projects. We made it formally as free as possible with the only commitment of the members to "attack" their political representatives. No dreaming, no blabla, little alegorie, concrete fight, just as the young French are fighting against the despicable hollandouille laws. So if you feel join in .
    • Does the initiative have a website? I was trying to find some info online but to no avail.
      • no . we are a small group of individual "art fighters" but we do have a manifesto which gives the main idea. We thought to make a structure as open as possible but always directed to concrete political action. As such we sent a letter to the Draghi ECB asking them to create one billion for art creation at a time they create 80 billions/ month for the banks. The reply was evasive as bureaucrats do ! I can send you this manifesto if you send me your email address. C
  • Visarte is the Swiss association of proffessional visual artists. Visarte advocates for the arts and artists on a regional, national and international level. Visarte is the biggest organization of cultural workers in Switzerland (2500 active members), consists of 18 regional groups with a national umbrella. Visarte offers its members services like legal advice, contracts, insurances and a pension system. Currently we are working on a campaign similar to paying artists. 2016 visarte celebrates its 150years jubilee. www.visarte.ch
    • Very professional ! Why do you not help "us" retarded EU-artists to set up a similar structure. maybe even a "party for culture?"
    • Why not create a European party for culture" ? EG for next EP elections. That would mess up the business as usual scene of brussel politics...
  • Actipedia is an open-access, user-generated database of creative activism. • We are always looking for new, like-minded contributors at the European Strategist (our Manifesto here: http://www.eurstrat.eu/manifesto/) Please get in touch if this sounds of interest to you.
EurStrat is an online international affairs’ magazine made of young professionals' collective. We focus on analysing foreign, security, defence, economic policies, but also arts, culture & philosophy from the perspective of Europe's strategic interests.
  • Please explore the Open Space Technology Concept promoted by Harrison Owen. This issue is ideal for such means and can be used in much the same way that this dialogue has been set up. The key issue is one where each person can receive feedback about their ideas and is responsible for taking action as a result of the feedback. Look at http://openspaceworld.org/wp2/

"Márton HAJDU: promising this idea; we go back to the "how to spread", same way as other EU programs are announced and spread?

I tend to believe more in that option, than TV-vote, despite agreeing with much Tamer Levent said.
However, we all also kn…"

"The hierarchy has changed. We now all have a share in each of those 3 roles - community, artist, professional- in varying degrees. But embarrassment or ridicule is still often more comfortable than experimenting with this new situation.
Where art ca…"

"Thanks! Ideas on how to engage/get artists, cultural operators more interested in such discussions? Or you want to say that the debate in itself was not relevant? Also, could you elaborate on "European citizenship classes"?"
