Culture Action Europe

Culture Action Europe is a European network of membership organisations, cultural organisations and individuals dedicated to promote culture as a necessary condition for sustainable development both at a local and European scale. Moreover, it contributes intensively to the European debate on culture through the expertise and the practice of a community that includes over 80,000 cultural organisations from different disciplines across Europe. Its mission: to put culture at the heart of public debate and decision making.
Culture Action Europe was set up under the name European Forum for the Arts and Heritage (EFAH) back in 1992. It has been actively working on European cultural policy issues since then. It has immediate access to EU decision makers and is widely recognised as a unique resource of expertise on the EU and its cultural policy. The EU institutions see CAE as the first port of call for informed opinion and debate about arts and cultural policy in Europe. It is the biggest umbrella organisation representing the cultural sector at the European level.
Recently, Culture Action Europe has been moving forward: transforming from an advocacy and lobby organisation into a real network, a community of practitioners actively engaged in discussing and reshaping the role of Culture in generating societal well-being. The organisation aspires to grow and evolve with the help and inspiration of its members, partners, friends and wider community.
