•
Democracy is it self art.Think about art.İt is humans's biological way of to do something.Thinking and doing! This is part of human being.Even whenever,he wasn't know anything,as a logical and scientificly,he was able to find a resolution for solving the problems! How he was thinking and doing. This was the process of the creativity. This was the process of the reaching the product as solving problem. So for me this is the naturalistic way of understanding democracy.İt is not a fiction.İt is human himself. But human forgat himself. This is terrible aliniation.Because of that reason disciplines are separeted and being artist became a proffession, and art it self can belong only professionals.

So if we can able to distrubute the idea "all human beings are the art product, and they must have to live like a art, because this is their necesity, other vise he became nevrotic and problematic with anxiete! This is not his nature!

So we can use YESTOART as a motto for creating a common learning and understanding campain.

İn 1968 there were peace children and communist movements are grow up together.

Communist movement was politic, but peace children movement was not.

We all, who believes the politic movements we were laughing to peace children.Even we were finding them funy, and un realistic. We believed proletarian dictatorial system. And teoratically we were not taking serious hippy movement'S, peace, brothernes and freedom topics.

But if we can able to turn back Aristotales Poetica, he was investigating product, with good, beautiful and truth. That can be life itself ! İf we look at our life now; is it good ? İs it beautiful or is it true.??

So these are not the culture of democracy, these are not the life as a art quality. What is human expectations and what are politicians are doing? So it is not necesary to turn back, we can keep continuing to improve the culture of democracy with the realities of this century! We must create a big referandum in the world like a music program Eurovison(?) and its voting system by TV;we can ask the nations their choice? This time it is possible to do it by 21 st century!s technological possibiltes may be !İs that war and terrorism is your choice? Or is it a big provocation through pull down human brain and looking human as a slaves who has no choice for using their creativity and their ideas? What is secret and why? What do you want to do with this refrugies? İs there a new cruel policy for creating a war for killing human being for controlling the improvement of population? İs there a another cruel policy for creating a uneducated religios society in midlle east, like making lobotomi to human brain like a film "One flue from the cookos nest"?Or controlling world energy more easily.Remember the questions of the president of Argentina's questions to Barac Obama.

So we can start with the "YESTOART" motto and mentioning all human beings are art product!and ask this question , Europa first,
""As being human as an art product yourselves, ist that the democracy what you want ?""
That question can be the starting point of big workshop! Then we can remember Renesance again. And try to find an answrer, even why that idea came from the Muslim's first and then why they didn't be able to make their renesance, but Christianty done it?Why İslamic society didn't make any attack to upgrade their religion? What kind of games are playing by main actors and their figurations?Probably that century is not the century of ideology, but can be a century of human values and international ethic, aesthetic and justice century? So we can start to find a way to make a sensible investigation and start to create big concensus between human beings instead of provacating their nationality, religion, politic thougts and their language! This is my proposal; finding a way for asking "ordinary people" !
    - making questions and answers workshops through social media inside of the YESTOART campain.
-Then TV. programs about the meaning of YESTOART
    -Votes about simple subjects

  • Europe total population (2015): 743.1 million; EU 510.1 million

7 HOURS of Jamm'Europe: 48 Countries (uau!) AND only 425 Visitors? 391 Comments; just 3394 Views ?!?! Really?

How many of us here have more FB friends interested on your posts??

Policy Proposal: Foster, promote, heavily support the inclusion of "European Citizenship Classes" in educational systems curriculums of European Countries, starting with EU Member States

    • Thanks! Ideas on how to engage/get artists, cultural operators more interested in such discussions? Or you want to say that the debate in itself was not relevant? Also, could you elaborate on "European citizenship classes"?

    • 1. Debate was relevant. I meant to draw our attention to facts & figures, considering the total Eropean and EU populatio vis a vis Culture statistics - cultural employment - Data extracted in December 2016 (http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Culture...)

AND knowing "Around 6.5 million cultural jobs in the EU (nearly 3 % of total employment)"

is it normal the attendance we had here?

Engage Artists: at least same way Artists want to engage EU funds.

When people are sponsored, commissioned, financed by EU entities to produce Art or any other thing, it is reasonable to ask them to give back; so they receive subsidies, investment... etc based on a project they present to be assessed, concrete and effective.

      2. European citizenship and social responsibility classes = same I said before, included in Katherine Heid's final recap, i.e.,: TEACH them EU; teach people, from early ages; as they are supposed to be taught about values, reading, maths, drawing, music... rights and obligations.

Do not wait until (some of) them go to University and (from these, few) study International Relations an Law and EU within it - leaving all the others out of the "EU literated" elite.

Then we will have more and more people appearing, visiting, commenting... just because only knowing about something, people can become interested about it.

  • These discussions seem very abstract to me. I wonder if a small-scale example of a community art project in London, which I am working on, can help.

Culture/art/craft and environment/public space/citizenship are intertwined in the creation of a sculpture trail using the wood of a local tree. The initiative was taken by residents, and local government listened. A balance is found between artists expressing their vision on the one hand, and participation by people of all ages from the community on the other. The work, ongoing, has been done largely on a voluntary basis, and now crowdfunding is under way. For more info: www.furzedownoak.org

I see change occurring in a triangle of community, artists and professionals: they must re-learn how to have a dialogue with each other, as the boundaries are shifted/blurred. Art/craft/culture can help in this new territory.

    • Thanks Christopher. Interesting if you can share your experiences on how to (re)connect three point of a triangle you are referring to?

    • The hierarchy has changed. We now all have a share in each of those 3 roles - community, artist, professional- in varying degrees. But embarrassment or ridicule is still often more comfortable than experimenting with this new situation.

Where art can help is in easing the tension, granting permission to listen, talk, enact, cross a threshold.

In this case of the wooden sculptures, the tree is a wonderful unifying presence.

  • How about looking more intensively at what differentiates us, Europeans (EU citizens) from the rest of the world? When you say you want European unity, you must also say where its borders are and how strictly you want to enforce them (I dont only mean extra EU migration though its obviously a big part).

Are we able to talk about what makes us Europeans different from the rest of the world, in concrete terms, not just Art 2 values and generalisations... What does it mean that I or my child is born European as opposed to if we had been born in the USA? Japan, Kenya, Syria China or Russia? (Russia being a very good one as they are so close to us... )

Can culture and the arts say something to that? Is it through education, reading from european authors, or benefiting from and contributing to European art projects that we become Europeans? Or through birth and belonging (being accepted in) an EU nation?

  • equality, art, education, culture - i would love to see a european version of the german Goethe Institut all over the world. supporting people, working with people, listening to people ( inside and outside of the EU ), gathering knowledge, learning about others, preserving heritage, and more.
